School safety your board and parents can stand behind.
Powerful safety tools need clear rules. Every Steadfast program starts with written policy your district controls: who can see what, how long it's kept, and what the technology is never used for.
Your data stays yours
Footage, plate reads, sensor data, and logs belong to the district. We access them only to monitor, verify, and respond on your behalf.
Retention you set
Video, plate reads, and alerts are kept only as long as your policy says, then deleted automatically.
Every look is logged
Who viewed which camera, when, and every video or plate search is recorded so your district can audit access.
Approved watchlists only
Plate hotlists and optional face matching only compare against people and vehicles your district approves, such as a trespass or court order.
Private spaces stay private
No cameras in restrooms, locker rooms, or changing areas. Sensors there measure air and sound levels, and audio recording is off.
Built to support FERPA
Designed to support FERPA and state privacy and public-records rules, with policies your counsel can review.
What Steadfast is never used for
- General scanning or tracking of students, staff, or families
- Cameras or audio recording in restrooms, locker rooms, or changing areas
- Selling, sharing, or reusing district data for any other purpose
- Watchlist matching against anyone your district hasn't approved
Face matching is optional
Some districts want to know the moment someone under a trespass or court order is at the front door. Others don't want face matching at all. It's your district's choice.
If you turn it on, it only compares against a watchlist your district approves, where state law and district policy allow it, and an analyst verifies every match before anyone acts.
Policy first, then technology.
During design, we draft a privacy policy and response playbooks alongside your system plan, so your board, counsel, and community can review the rules before anything goes live. Signs at your entrances tell families and visitors that cameras and plate readers are in use.
Privacy FAQ.
Can police see our school cameras?
Only when an incident calls for it. Live sharing with responding officers starts when an incident triggers it under your district's playbook, covers that incident and the cameras involved, and ends when the incident does. Your district decides which agencies are connected, by written agreement, and every view is logged. There is no standing, always-on access. How responders use Steadfast.
How does license plate recognition work at a school?
Plate readers at entrances and pickup lanes log vehicles and alert only on plates your district flags, such as a vehicle tied to a protective or custody order. Plates that aren't on a list are simply logged and deleted on your retention schedule.
Do you put cameras in restrooms or locker rooms?
Never. Restrooms, locker rooms, and changing areas get sensors only. They measure air quality, smoke, vape, sound level, temperature, and tamper. Sound sensors measure loudness, not words, and audio recording is turned off in private spaces.
Who owns the video and data?
Your district does. Footage, plate reads, sensor data, and logs belong to the district and are kept only as long as your policy says. Every video view and search is logged for audit.
Do you use facial recognition?
Only if your district chooses to. Face matching is optional and only compares against a watchlist your district approves, such as people under a trespass or court order, where state law and district policy allow it. An analyst verifies every match.
Is Steadfast FERPA compliant?
Steadfast is built to support FERPA and state privacy and records rules. We draft a privacy policy and access rules with your district during design so your counsel and board can review them before anything goes live.
